Your whole food, plant-based life.

Raw Ingredients

My daughter called from Colorado today. They have had 44″ of snow in the last week. She and her friends “rode pow” all day. I am jealous. We got 8″ of snow and a lot of damaged trees. But I will be out there soon to hit the slopes with her.

Mia and her friends are really into raw food and I am thrilled. Could that make a mother happier? And honestly, I don’t think it was all from me. Time and time again, one of her friends would say, “Rawmazing is your Mom’s site?” She started paying more attention and trying more raw food.

During our phone call she told me that they had made the mashed cauliflower and it didn’t turn out like mine. “But,” she said, the cauliflower didn’t look very good…it was really green.” Ah…the truth comes out.

When we make raw food recipes, we really owe it to ourselves to get the best ingredients we can. Raw food recipes are not as forgiving as cooked food. Cooking can cover many problems, raw will accentuate them. If the food we start with has issues, our finished product will be tainted. You are taking the time to make this beautiful, flavor food, take time to pick out good stuff.

Cooking cleanliness is also important. You really want to wash your produce well. Take good care of it and buy organic when you can. Make sure you are familiar with the top 12 fruits and veggies that are the most pesticide ridden. It is worth consideration getting organic when buying the following:

  1. Celery (the worst)
  2. Peaches
  3. Strawberries
  4. Apples
  5. Blueberries
  6. Nectarines
  7. Bell Peppers
  8. Spinach
  9. Kale
  10. Cherries
  11. Potatoes
  12. Imported Grapes

The winner for this week’s giveaway is CarolC. I will be sending you an email to notify you and get your address for shipping!

One more quick note. It has been a challenging computer week here. I got a new macbook and just as I was getting it set up, the old one crashed. Unfortunately, at the moment, I have no access to the programs that I use to do my photography work. Hopefully this will be resolved tomorrow. I am working very hard to release the Holiday Recipe E-book by Friday. It may come out on the weekend. It is full of amazing raw recipes that everyone will love. Some even start out completely raw, but with the addition of an extra ingredient become an even heartier fare for all.

I am new to Rawmazing. After I shared the above recipe and then navigated around I found where I could properly share my recipe. Sorry for putting it in the wrong area of your website. I am not that computer or technology savvy….I’ve never even gotten a cell phone…yet….and I do just fine without one…Happy Thanksgiving………….

Thanks Jen, great tip for washing veggies, most greens we grow ourselves, best way. Arugula grows like a weed in California. All summer veggies except tomatoes still going. Faith, love your simple smoothie we do that one to, alot! Happy Thanksgiving to All!
