Traveling in Colorado

I haven’t gotten back in the kitchen this week quite yet as I am still basking in the afterglow of spending the weekend with my daughters in Colorado. So instead of a recipe today, I thought I would instead share some pictures. This is from Summit County.

My eldest daughter is working as a guide at a horse ranch this summer. I haven’t been on horseback since I sold my last horse about 4 years ago. A ride was a must!

Not a bad view for horses or us!

This shot was just too pretty to pass up.

The wildflowers were in full bloom.

We still haven’t identified this one…

The Dillion reservoir sits at over 9,000 ft. It is the main source for Denver’s water. It covers over 3,000 acres.

As beautiful as this picture is, if you look closely, You can see all the dead pines from the pine beetle. It is decimating the pine forests up there.

And I couldn’t resist. This is Cargo. The newest member of my youngest daughter’s household. He was just adopted from the Humane Society. He is 8 weeks old and a tiny little boy!

I shoot with a Nikon D300s. I believe the lens I used for the one photo (mountain and barn) was my 50 mm, 1.4. That said, it is much more learning about lighting, composition, etc that what camera you use. If I had shot the same shots with a canon, you wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference. I get some amazing shots with my phone, too! 🙂 It is all about developing your eye so that you can see the composition and the light.
