Sweet Potato Broccoli Salad with Garlic-Ginger Tahini Sauce

I was tired. And I didn’t want to cook. But I wanted something super healthy and super healing. Take-out  just never seems to fit that bill. It had to be fast, easy and delicious.

Super Healthy Sweet Potato Salad with a Ginger Garlic Tahini Dressing

We seem to have an over abundance of sweet potatoes around (one should always check before going shopping and buying a big bag of them) and I had a lovely bunch of broccolini. I chopped up the broccolini, lightly steamed the sweet potatoes and threw together a 4 ingredient garlic-ginger tahini sauce.

My daughter walked through the kitchen, took a bite and said, “Mom! This is incredible!” I count that as a success. I was a bit amazed at how much flavor was in this easy dish. Don’t be afraid of the raw garlic. It really makes it.

Your nutritional heavy hitters? Sweet potatoes, broccoli, garlic and fresh ginger. Sweet potatoes top the charts as far as nutrient rich per dollar.

I left the broccolini raw in this recipe but lightly steamed the sweet potatoes. You can also lightly steam the broccoli if you don’t want it raw, just make sure you cut it 40 minutes before cooking so the enzymes can start working their magic.

Love this post. Im trying to transition to raw life style. How do you cook the broccoli to preserve the enzymes? I don’t understand.

Hi, Debbie, The broccolini is uncooked. The sweet potatoes are lightly steamed, and not raw. This is what I call a transitional recipe. You can also leave the sweet potato raw but I would cut it in smaller chunks. Cheers!

If you want to preserve some of the enzymes, you can cut the broccoli 45 minutes prior to serving. There is a link in the post for a video that shows you more information on this.

I used to LOVE your website, but you now seem to be posting less and less (March 16th?) and I have to say I am disappointed in your cooked food inclusions. I read your justification that you wanted to “reach out to your readers who are not all 100% raw”. Well, there is a plethora of websites and recipes for cooked food, vast majority of them! I loved your website because it was the one I could count on to get good raw recipes, there are so few of those. I have not done an actual count, but there seems to be more and more cooked and while I understand that you want to maintain your readership and continue calling yourself “Raw” even though you are no, just seems like a misleading tactic. Akin to saying “we sell only organic produce”, but actually having mass-produced, herbicide/pesticide treated food.

      Hi, Disappointed,

Thank you for your comment. I am sorry you feel that way. Please understand that there are times that behind the scenes, things are happening in people’s lives that may prevent them from posting as frequently. This site is completely free to you. There are over 300 recipe on the site, probably 95% raw. I still am creating raw recipes all the time and many of the recipes that I put up can be done raw, also. Since the site is still about 95% raw, I feel that our trademarked name, Rawmazing, which we have had for over 7 years, still fits. And to be honest, I know I can help many more people by including cooked food on the site. And that is what it is all about for me.
      I wish you the best.
