Monday Give Away: UrthBag!
Monica Ralli, founder of UrthBags, has sent us this beautiful “Angelina” recycled magazine handbag for our Monday give away! UrthBags are the Eco-Chic handbags made with the health of the planet in mind. I have one of these little beauties sitting on the kitchen table, and believe me, it is fantastic.
Monica has always tried to live a sustainable life by recycling everything possible, shopping locally at farmers markets, avoiding toxic chemicals by choosing organic, etc. Looking in her closet one evening filled with handbags, purses, totes, gym bags, etc., She thought to herself, why couldn’t these same, stylish designs be made from salvaged, recycled & discarded materials? After much researching, sourcing materials, locating and organizing women’s groups, she created UrthBags Eco-Chic Handbags.
Monica also follows a predominantly raw diet and has for over 20 years. She strongly advocate consuming sustainable, fresh food diet that is as close to its natural state as possible. Sisterhood!
This beautiful bag’s retail value is 72.00. Thank you Monica!

In the last year, I have slowly been transitioning to the more natural personal care and cleaning products. Have also started recycling with a passion. My kids have totally taken ownership of the recycling. They love knowing that they are doing something that helps our enviroment.

I use old shirts, clothes, etc. in place of paper towels. Just wash are reuse, I love it! I keep them cut up in paper towel sizes, in a bag that hangs on the arms of where the paper towel roll would sit. I have another bag right outside the door to put the cloth towels in when they have been used. Wash when the bag gets full or when there is to much ‘stuff’ with the cloth towels, then wash and reuse again!

I like finding well made vintage shoes and going to my local small business shoe repair shop to have them re-soled/freshened up. It’s buying products that already exist which is more “green”, supports small businesses and makes my feet happy!

I buy only organic – good for the environment, good for me! Invested in a couple of awesome filters to get pure water straight from my house – great for drinking out of reusable bottles.

I effort to be mindful of my choices, and choose what I perceive to have the least impact on the planet.

For years I used strong harsh chemicals for cleaning. After cleaning my bathrooms with bleach I would inhale so much that I felt ill the rest of the day and my hands would be so dry.
Now I make my own cleaning products with white vinegar, tea tree oil ,peppermint and so on.

I try to reuse all the boxes that I get items in. I reuse it in some way whether it’s shoe boxes or big boxes I receive my packages in. I use compost in our garden.

I donate any clothes, shoes, household items – use brazil nut pulp for flour, and reuse glass jars from almond butter etc for storage containers . .
