Sunday Morning Farmer’s Market
I rolled out of bed this morning around 7 am, wanting to beat the crowds. I was off to one of my favorite Sunday morning destinations, the farmer’s market. If you get there early, finding parking close is actually an option that disappears later in the morning. When I arrived the place was already full of life and smells. I was on the hunt for raw food treasures to use in creating new recipes.
There is something about seeing the rows and rows of vegetables, fruits and flowers that brings me peace. It also inspires me to try things that I would never find at the grocery store. I also am thrilled that I am buying local. Better for us, better for the planet. Knowing my dollar supports local small farmers is another plus.
Find your local farmer’s markets. Ask the individual farmers how they grow their crops. You will find that many of them are using sustainable farming techniques and natural organic fertilizer even though they are not certified organic. They have worked hard and we are the lucky recipients of their labor, I am grateful. If you see something interesting, ask for a little taste, and experiment!
