Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

first of all, I am just IN LOVE with your website. thank you for all the inspiration and great ideas.

I’m wondering: What can I do to introduce more raw cooking to a somewhat “raw-unfriendly” family 🙂

    thank you!

Wow – that’s a pretty dehydrator! Question — is nutritional yeast considered raw? I’ve seen conflicting data. If not — is it still meritorious for your health to use it?

Susan! It’s such a wonderful give away! Somebody will be so lucky!

I would love to have a dehydrator. You have so many wonderful recipes for flat breads here!!! I’m a little concerned. I’ve heard that dehydration can kill the some of the key enzymes in food. Is this true?
(I’m sorry I’m new to this and have questions about the basics that other people might already know.)

I started raw diet in January but it’s kind of difficult for me to stay on it because I feel all the pangs of detoxification but at the same time my bowels are not working properly (as always!). Do you have any suggestions to help me with this since you seem to be an experienced raw foodist.
Thanks for the great site and a wonderful offer.
    Elena

Are there any inherent dangers for children with a raw food diet?

Do you have a recipe for coconut yogurt? And / or some ideas on using coconut yogurt?

I love the nutty dense deserts, but is there a way I can use sprouted oat groats/sprouted buckwheat plus the normal ingredients (dates, some nut meal, etc) to imitate a more fluffy type recipe?

I notice a lot of your recipes have nuts in them. I’d love to make some of them for my family to try, but my mother in law is allergic to some nuts. What would be some good alternatives? Would sunflower seeds work well, or would it be better to stick to other nuts that she can eat, like almonds?
Oh, and thank you for the opportunity 😀

I am a young(er) woman who has had digestive issues for years. I’ve heard just about everything from doctors about ulcers, IBS, esophageal erosion, etc. I recently met with a friend who goes to a nutritionist and she told me that if I switch to natural foods, more importantly, raw foods, it might heal my digestive tract. I’ve always known the importance of good, whole foods in my diet, but I guess my question would be along the lines of the healing capabilities of raw foods. Could raw foods strengthen not only my immune system, but help to heal digestive issues that processed foods might have caused? Thank you!
