Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

Hi! I’ve been making my 2 year old green smoothies in the vitamix (spinach, banana and water), since she was just under a year. She started to develop a rash on her chin. For awhile I thought she was allergic to bananas so I cut them out, which didn’t help so I stopped giving her the smoothies for a couple weeks and the rash seemed to go away. I would hate to stop giving her the smoothies with the spinach, especially since she loves them and most of all it’s so good for her. Have you ever heard of anyone being allergic to spinach??

I love the website and I’m curious about raw diets in general–is it important to be totally raw, and is it possible to get all the nutrients you need being 100% raw? Is it ok to just be 50% raw?

What are your thoughts on agave nectar? I have heard it is not as natural as advertised.

What types of grains are considered raw? Should people with slow digestion go onto a raw food lifestyle? Could not eating warm foods harden your stools and cause irregular bowel movement?

At a meal should you only eat raw and no cooked food or does it matter to the digestion if you add cooked food?

How much water should you drink a day? I’ve read somewhere that it should be half your weight in ounces? Is that correct or is there really any kind of formula that has science behind it?
