Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I love flaxseed crackers. I buy them from my local organic store. I also buy hemp seeds and add them to many of my raw foods. Can you make hemp seed crackers and dehydrate the same as you can flaxseed crackers?

My question is about the rules/guidelines for what is consider slightly cooked raw food. I know in certain cases, some foods can be cooked at low temps or steamed, but are still considered “raw”. I am a bit unclear on this topic and would love to know your thoughts. Do you slightly cook any of your “raw” food and why or why not?
Love the page, and would love the dehydrator!
Thanks!

My question is: Is freeze dried food okay on a raw food diet?
I hate a bunch of freeze dried food and er, ended up with a problem… TMI… so I won’t go into it now. I loved freeze dried apples.
I want this dehydrator SO BAD. I hate buying dehydrated food because it seems they put so many additives in store bought dehydrated food even when they claim it is healthy.

What’s a quick and easy snack that can be made in the dehydrator for someone on the run. I’m in college and I’m wanting to stay raw but find it really difficult with all the convenience foods around me.
Thanks,
Danieal

Wow, what an awesome giveaway. I have many questions about raw food! For starters: I can’t get used to the idea of a smoothie in the morning (for breakfast). Especially in the winter, I want something like oatmeal or cereal. Do you have any other ideas for breakfasts that are quick to prepare and are portable? I usually eat breakfast at work.
