Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I would love to be entered!

My question (which I would also love to have answered) is do you have any good smoothie recipes without fruit? I am in the middle of a month long sugar detox program and am missing my green smoothies. Even though this won’t last forever, I’d love a few good recipes for smoothies with no (or even less fruit). Thanks!

I’m interested in expanding beyond salads for easy, quick meals. I’m used to a PB&J lunch – what would be a good raw substitute?

Hi. I’ve started soaking raw mostly organic nuts. Almonds, brazils, pecans, macadamias, pumpkin… Should all nuts be soaked? Including Macadamias? How long should nuts soak for? What temperature in a dehydrator should be set for drying nuts? How to determine when they are dried enough? Any down sides to soaking in salt water before drying?

    Thanks!

Have you heard about the side effect of eating pine nuts that have oxidized? The side effect is a horrible bitter taste in the mouth that can last for days. The killer is that the pine nuts may not taste bad, but you get socked with this after-effect. Another question: How can you find pine nuts that are very fresh? After my last experience, I dont’ want to take another chance on bad pine nuts.

I have ‘gone raw” about 2 months ago and I think I am doing pretty good. My question is, I am so in need of losing 50 lbs and am off to a good start but it seems that a lot of the bread and crackers and wraps are made with Flax seed and it seems to be very high in fat. Is there other ways to make the crackers and bread and the wraps which I just love without using flax seed. I have made some of them and they are wonderful but until I am at my target weight I need some suggestions……

I have sent your web address out to many of the new friends that I have made in this raw journey as I have found that your recipes are the very best!

Somebody told me that raw mushrooms can give you cancer, if you eat too many. Is that true – and will marinating them first make a difference?

What is a good example of how to keep your dehydrator running, continuously making healthy nuggets of joy, when you have an 8-5 style j-o-b?
