Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

    Hi Susan,
I absolutely love this website! Thank you so much. My question is – why is maple syrup used in raw recipes, even though it isn’t raw? Does it have particularly beneficial properties?

What an awesome giveaway! I feel like most desserts are super heavy in nuts. I know a lot of people who can’t easily digest nuts and would like know what your favorite nut-free dessert recipe is?

    Dear Susan,
First, I want to thank you for presenting raw food preparation that tantilizes the mind, body and spirit! Your visuals are so inspiring, and the recipes I have tried so far have been beyond delicious! Thank you!
My question for your “Rawmazing Contest” concerns food combining “rules” and their affect on how we prepare our raw meals. Since there are conflicting schools of thought on this matter, what are your views and guidance on this subject?

Oh, goodie!!! 🙂 Is flax seed safe to eat whole?? My hubby is concerned about eating them whole and especially concerned about giving them to our 11 month old. We’ve made a few crackers or him (from a raw baby foods uncookbook) and so far so good… hubby heard flax can get stuck in the colon if not broken down and cause problems later. ?? thx!

At the top of my wish list is a dehydrator! It’s been a month since I invested in 2 of the 3 big tools (blender and food processor) and so far I feel as if I’ve bought some freedom, but I’m itching to experiment at another level. Also, I can’t wait to process nuts properly. My goal is to do 100% raw for 30 days, beginning this summer (of course) to see what happens. I’m very, very curious.

My question is (more than one): Since you’ve been completely raw do you really feel healthier, more energetic? My concern is proper absorption of B12, which I understand is best received from animal sources. Do you find it easy to slip off the raw diet, and does it cause you great havoc when you do? What about cravings for hot comfort foods?

P.S. As does everyone here, I so appreciate the fresh simplicity of your site, the content and your lovely macro shots (which inspired me to dust off my camera–all winter I’ve forgotten it). Every time I enter your site I feel as if I’m breathing deeply. Blessings to you!

I have a couple of questions: 1. What is a Living Foodist or Raw Foodist?

    2. I understand the physical effects of a raw diet, however I know very little about the psychological effects. What Psychological Effects Can I Expect When I Go to a Raw Diet?

    Thanks!

What vitamins and/or supplements do you recommend taking while eating raw vegan (if any)?

    Hello,
I hope this question hasn’t been asked: Can all vegetables be eaten raw? Like mushrooms? Also is Agave Nectar really raw?
