Banana Pineapple Green Drink

My normal morning routine always includes a green drink for breakfast. Sometimes that is enough to fill me up, other mornings I might add a little something on the side. One of my favorites is cinnamon raisin toast. This morning, I had a huge bunch of spinach from my farmer’s market trip, yesterday. I usually start with a couple of handfuls of greens, throw it in the high-speed blender and then toss in what ever fruit I have around.

This morning I didn’t have any fresh fruit so I looked in the freezer. I lucked out and found some pineapple and bananas I had frozen a couple of weeks back. I often will freeze produce rather than let it go bad. Even greens can be frozen this way and used later for green drinks. The frozen pineapple and bananas blended perfectly with the spinach and made a completely tasty, filling, refreshing green smoothie!

Mmmm … you can’t go wrong with banana and pineapple–ever. Banana is a staple in my green smoothies. Regardless the type of green there’s always a banana, and a teaspoon of spirulina to vitalize my cells even more.

that looks really yummy, and I’m proud to say I’m drinking my own green smoothie as I read this! I usually use apples as my only fruit in my green smoothies, but today didn’t have any, so I used some green grapes I had recently bought, and decided to use my chopped greens that I usually keep around for quick salads….kale, cilantro, parsley, a bit of butter lettuce, dandelion greens- and some celery….came out great! Experimenting is good…

This is a combo I drink quite often! I like that spinach blends a little easier than kale, as I don’t have a high-speed blender. I usually add fresh mint to mine, which is very nice, and lately I’ve been adding some hemp protein powder for a little boost of protein.

Beautiful photo Susan. I love to add spinach to green smoothies, particularly if I want to preserve a flavor since spinach is so mild, almost neutral.
