Banana Pineapple Green Drink

My normal morning routine always includes a green drink for breakfast. Sometimes that is enough to fill me up, other mornings I might add a little something on the side. One of my favorites is cinnamon raisin toast. This morning, I had a huge bunch of spinach from my farmer’s market trip, yesterday. I usually start with a couple of handfuls of greens, throw it in the high-speed blender and then toss in what ever fruit I have around.

This morning I didn’t have any fresh fruit so I looked in the freezer. I lucked out and found some pineapple and bananas I had frozen a couple of weeks back. I often will freeze produce rather than let it go bad. Even greens can be frozen this way and used later for green drinks. The frozen pineapple and bananas blended perfectly with the spinach and made a completely tasty, filling, refreshing green smoothie!

I tried this recently! I did a cup of unsweetened almond milk (vanilla flavor if you’d like) and a little bit of honey. Though if the banana (not frozen) is ripe enough I omit the honey. Anyway, it’s super yummy!! and I’m not one for smoothies but this is super good and so easy to make! 🙂

Thanks for sharing these great recipies! I’m just starting – I mean just dipping my toes into these waters – of raw eating. My first attempt at making a green smoothie was tasty, but stringy. Oh, so very stringy. It was the frozen spinach. I used a mini food processor and then a hand blender (twice) and it still had strings.

How do you prevent this? (tell me it’s not all about the $200 blender… )

For green drinks, I would always use fresh spinach and also, you may need a stronger blender. A mini food processor and hand blender just can’t break the greens down like they should be. Cheers!

I’m just getting into juicing and trying green drinks (that’s what I call them) and came across this recipe. I made it with fresh banana and pineapple…it was so good, I couldn’t even taste the spinach and was just sweet enough! thanks for the recipe!
