Pear Walnut Raw Crackers with Raw Pear Fig Compote

Walnuts, and pears come together beautifully in these tasty little raw crackers. Highlighted with cinnamon, sage, cracked pepper and a pinch of salt (himalayan) and topped with a raw fig-pear compote, I mean, who doesn’t like figs, they are the perfect little treat for tea. Well, if you don’t have time for tea, they make a great little snack any time of the day.

This little pear fig compote comes together quickly and is the perfect topping to compliment the crackers. A quick whirl in the food processor and you have a lovely, thick, tasty spread. Just two ingredients, pears and dried figs!

Your recipes always make me so inspired and happy to have found raw foods in my life. My sister Cindy is my mentor and you are my encouragement. At anytime I think I may want to go astray I only need to come here to get invigorated again. Really Susan! Your recipes are so delicious and so beautiful to look at. I wish you had a show as a chef at food network.com. They used to have a NETWORK STAR contest. Get on it girl!

Just wondering how to get that awful bitter taste out of the oats…I’ve tried soaking oats then dehydrating after and it still makes a nasty flavor. I tried a raw fig newton twice, the second time soaking and rinsing the oats for a few days before dehydrating and both times had to throw out alot of expensive ingredients.

You are soaking them too long. Usually an overnight soak will do the trick. Cheers!

I’ve just bought figs, walnuts, pears and oat groats with no idea what to make, just craved the flavours, and this little work of art hits my inbox – how fantastically cool 🙂

    Hi Susan,
These crackers look and sound delicious. If I make my own oat flour, how long should I dehydrate the soaked oat groats (say THAT 5 times fast 😉

    Thanks!!
