Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

What do you thing about yeast flakes in our diet? I love kale chips with lemon juice, yeast flakes and some salt. Thank you for your wonderful work. I love every recipe.

Hi, there, I’m new to raw food, but I’ve been following your blog for a little while to learn more about it. Slowly working my way to being 100% raw.

My question is this: some vegetables I love cooked- like brusselsprouts- but I can’t stand them raw, is there a raw recipe that you would recommend for getting used to raw brusselsprouts? Also, does it still count as raw if I boil the vegetables, but I’m careful to keep the temperature stable at 100 degrees or so?

    Cheers!

Is there a division between nutrients that are better absorbed when raw, or better absorbed when cooked?

Can a diet of raw food be as healthful as a diet including cooked food? It seems like many foods contain nutrients that are not as available to our bodies when uncooked, and some food items are inedible or even harmful if consumed raw.

Wow great giveaway! How long do fresh juices last when juiced fresh, and how long do they last when made in advance and frozen? Thanks!

I would LOVE a dehydrator! As I don’t have one right now, my question is:

Is there a way to “cook” raw foods without a dehydrator?

Hello, your site in wonderful and I always enjoy all the great photos and recipes too!

I try to eat a lot of greens, mostly green smoothies and juicing. I would like to keep my grocery store/Farmers Market visits to once a week, what is the best way to store greens?? I have tried the green bags and the containers that are made specifically for produce, but then have read that storing foods in plastics is not good. I personally like to get all my produced washed as soon as I get home from the store, so that I have it all ready to use, but have read that you should only wash it just before you use it. Also, suggestions on storing sprouts would be great too!

I love your website and recipes. But I do not have a dehydrator. What a great giveaway!

My question is about protein. I have recently gotten back into the gym and weight training. In the old days, I significantly upped my lean protein(meat) consumption when training hard. But now, even though I am not 100% raw, I’m not doing dairy and am really minimizing meat. What food has the best value in protein from a raw standpoint?
