Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I’m a stressed out graduate student that is entirely to dependent on junk food as the core part of my diet. So I am currently transitioning to vegetarian, hopefully to vegan and then eventually to raw food. My question is, as a broke graduate student, what is the best way to transition to raw food (in a healthy manner), in a way that is affordable?

Hi Susan-
I guess I have been wondering what the difference is in the water lost when you cook or steam food, versus when you dehydrate it? I have heard a lot of raw food proponents say that cooking food robs it of vitamins, minerals, and water, and I was wondering how dehydrating food would make any difference? Also since pine nuts are so ridiculously expensive (at least where I am) is there a good substitute you recommend? Thank you! Love your blog

Is dehydrated food considered “live”? It seems to upset my colon.

What’s the best recipe you have for raw pudding without avocados?
and how do I keep my kids from eating all the dehydrated bananas before I get them out of the oven? I need a HUGE dehydrator if I am to “save” anything for later…

Hey Susan,
I would LOVE to hear what your daily/weekly menu plan is.
Sometimes us bachelor type raw foodies get stuck in the land of Goji Berries, Raw Cacao, And Figs with Coconut Oil oh my!
Always looking to shake it up with the variety and spice of Rawmazing, oh yeah, all the recipes are on your blog, curses, now I have no excuses!
Well looking forward to hearing anyway, and hopefully trying out the new Dehydrator, yeah that’s right:
“Real Men Dehydrate!”
Take care,
Scott

Great giveaway!
My question is do you prefer to juice your veggies or blend them? Or should someone find a good balance between the two methods?
Sorry, that was two questions, LOL.

Susan… wow this is over the top in giveaways!
My question: I have been hearing alot about using “Irish Moss” to thicken desserts etc. – but it sort of intimidates me!
What has been your experience with it?

My raw question is: Can I use my oven on the lowest temp with the door open instead of a dehydrator?
If not, it’d be great to win this! 😉
