Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

Susan,
Wow! What an amazing giveaway! My question is how do I know if I am getting enough of all the important nutrients when eating an all raw food diet?

I have been a vegan for 5 years. I would like to switch to eating raw foods but I am having trouble finding the items locally. I have to drive 55 miles to a store that carries raw nuts and other items. I have noticed that eating raw can be very expensive.

Since most raw food diets eliminate dairy what is a good way to get calcium in your diet?

I am definitely interested in the scientific aspects of a raw food lifestyle, since my particular interests are focused on human metabolism and the biochemistry associated with its various processes. I wonder about the differences between assimilation of raw food vs. cooked food in the diet and whether or not it is an adaptation unique to humans to desire a cooked food diet. I want to know more about the body’s interactions with cooked and raw food. It may not be one question, but it is a whole array of various interrelated and complex questions.

My question is: What is your understanding of mixing food groups within one meal? I have heard to try and not eat fruits and vegetables at the same time.
Thanks! Great giveaway opportunity! 🙂

Hello and thanks for such a great giveaway:)
My question is – after soaking nuts, I have read that you are suppose to dry out your nuts if using at a later time. How long do you need to dry them out and if they are not dried properly are there any health ramifications?
Thanks
