Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I have the worst time digesting raw meals with onions. Do you have any techniques for preparing onions so they are easier on the digestion?

My question is…..Are there certain vegetables that have to be eaten cooked ? For example..Ive hear that certain vegetables like Edamame are toxic if consumed raw. Is this true?

Wow, that’s a sweet giveaway!
I’ve been high raw for 2 months now and loving it. My 11 y.o. dau. is also eating raw. I was wondering if there’s any thing extra that a pre-adolescent should have to be sure she’s getting what her growing body needs.

Hi Susan, my raw question would be: Why they say cacao beans are toxic?

In trying to eat raw i find myself eating mostly fruits and nuts because it’s easy to grab and i have a killer sweet tooth. I feel like I’m gaining weight because of it. Would you be able to give a run down of raw food “pyramid” as it were, and/or a couple good daily meal plans? With all this new food and ways of combining, I have no idea how to gauge portion control and how to make sure I’m getting enough things like protein in my diet without eating my weight in nuts. (Leilani has essentially the same question)

My question for a raw food guru like yourself is this: What is your favorite raw food recipe of all time? Are there recipes that constantly show up on your grocery list, week in and week out?
We have some favorites, so we’d love to know yours 🙂

My question: Are there more nutrients loss in the food if you dehydrate or freeze them??
I have always wondered if there is a test out there to find out what actually has more nutritients. It seems as if dehydration is really the main way to “save” our food nutrition but is it really that much better than freezing.
Thanks you continue to inspire me.

I wonder if eating a raw diet has any positive effects on reducing acne, as I read somewhere that cooking proteins denatures them and causes them to remain in the skin causing water swelling and if you also have oily skin, water+oil=pimple. I wish someone could do a clinical trial on this theory. =)
The dehydrator looks amazing!
