Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I work as a field service technician and find it hard to make and pack my lunch every day. I do take, from time to time, dried apricots to eat as a snack but that is about as healthy as it gets. I am however about to plant my spring/summer garden. Any suggestions on things I can just grow and take raw or dehydrated that would provide me with a good daily lunch? I do not have the ability to cook my food in my service van so raw is always good… However, on the other side of that, I do not have any way to keep my food cold either so salads always wilt…

Hi Susan
I am trying to get DH to come-on-board for raw with me and am having a hard time with it. I want us to grow old and healthy together – so I am asking you, what kind of man-type recipes do you have that I can wow him – The thing is, he doesn’t like a lot of nuts which makes me feel that my options are limited (I assume they are) – I got him to try smoothies with lots of fruit and some spinach but “green” has never been his favorite color – slowly but surely! Your recipes are so wonderful and tasty – any recipes and tips you can give will be very much appreciated! Thanx
And thanx for the opportunity for the giveaway – it is very generous

I love your site..such beautiful pictures and very informative! I get so inspired to put meals together..such yummy recipes!
I just recently bought a vitamix (which I love and have been using at least 3 times daily!), but have been saving for a dehydrator…college is tough!
I was wondering about sprouters, and spouting methods..I just recently started sprouting chickpeas and make a lovely hummus. What is the best, cheapest, easiest way to sprout? Do different types of seeds thrive in different conditions (lighting/humidity)?

I could sure use a dehydrator right about now. I’m craving for and can’t wait to make my first raw pizza! I’ve been 50% raw for about a year. I like to research and study raw food recipes and of course, prepare them and try them out. My biggest problem is that some or most raw food recipes call for the use of a dehydrator and if you do not have access to a dehydrator, what’s the next best thing? The oven?(on and off for hours?) The sun? (it’s complicated). Bypass the recipe and when you do get a dehydrator, you can refer back to the recipe? Thank you again for your rawmazing website!

Oh the dehydrator looks awesome! Okay. There’s a question in here somewhere:
There’s a lot of debate over how much fats in a raw food diet is too much. It can be so easy to over-do it, if every dish is made out of nuts and oils. I personally get very sick, very quickly, with too high fat raw meals and can actually only consume a small amount with out physically getting sick. I’m always on the look out for healthier, low fat dishes – especially ones my small children will eat. What is your take on the issue?

I have been very ill despite my all organic diet. I am looking to begin my journey back to health with raw foods. A dehydrator and recipe suggestions would really help.
Thank you for you lovely site!

Thank you for all the great info. Wow! Stainless steel dehydrator.
I have read that to be raw you have to cook in a dehydrator at a certain temp.
Question:Is their a length of time that has to be followed for dehydrating to stay raw?

Do you know of any raw foods that will help increase a woman’s breastmilk supply when feeding an infant?
Thanks for the giveaway!

I am allergic to soy. Are there any good soyfree soy sauce tasting recipes out there?
