Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I just found this blog (linked from choosingraw) and oooh, am I excited to enter a dehydrator contest! I’m also excited because I’ve read a few back posts and I already love your recipes! So this is already a win. But I need to have a question, apparently….ummm… lately I’ve been making smoothies in my vita with dehydrated out-of-season fruit and greens instead of using frozen fruit (and greens). Am I losing nutrients? Enzymes? Would I be better off with frozen? And yes Spring is upon us and I’ll be turning to fresh but I imagine I’ll do this again next year and it is a really good trick when I’m out of produce and need to get myself to market…

I would love to have a dehydrator! I’ve been wanting one for a really long time, but they are just too expensive…
My question is: Do you have a good raw ice cream recipe? I’m having jaw surgery soon, and I’m looking for soft and cold foods I will be able to eat while I am healing. 🙂
Thanks so much!

Great questions I was glad to see the question about make savory bars and would like to add a variation to that. I’ve been trying various “greens” raw bars that are full of superfoods and would like to replicate those. They are expensive at the health food stores and I can’t eat flax which most of them contain, so need to figure out how to make my own. How do you create a tasty, filling, healthy, nutrient packed raw bar for on-the-go eating?

How do you deal with ignorant comments from others regarding your lifestyle choice?

My question is what oils do you recommend the most for salads? I seem to always use extra virgin olive oil, but know there are other great oils that I could probably use as well. Do you have any preferences or suggestions? Thanks so much! 🙂
