Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

I’ve been reading about raw food for a few months and I’m slowly trying to incorporate more of them into my life. What are your top ten tips for making the transition a smooth one and what are your favorite online resources (websites, blogs, etc.)?

What an amazing giveaway! There are so many things that I would love to make with a dehydrator, such as raw bread and vegetable chips. When did you first decide to get a dehydrator and what are your favorite recipes that use it?

How do starchy vegetables, like carrots or parsnips, combine?

Hi, I am curious about raw agave nectar. While I’ve heard that agave has a lower glycemic index than sugar, I have also heard that it is basically no better for you than high fructose corn syrup. As someone who wants to avoid all artificial sweeteners, should I use or stay away from agave? Is there something else that can be used in its place?

I am just starting out my journey to being a raw foodist. Where is the first place I should start? I am breast feeding and am not able to detox and transition to raw foods 100% because of the toxins that would be released into my breast milk. So, what should I start with for a gradual shift? Thanks!

I don’t know a lot about eating raw so I have all kinds of questions, but I guess I’ll just ask what you do when you have cravings for non-raw foods? Do you still get cravings? Surely you must, that seems like a silly question. What is the one food you would suggest someone who is thinking about switching to a raw diet to try?
Couldn’t stick to one question after all!

I Love your blog…I just started my raw lifestyle 3 wks ago, and I feel terrific. However, I keep hearing about raw food cleanses, and my question is…Should I have started out with a cleanse instead of going raw, or will my body still receive maximum benefit like I am doing now? also, is it too late to do a cleanse, and where do I find more information about it?
Thanks!

Good morning,
What a nice contest..very thoughtful.
Here is my question…I am struggling with trying to “explain” my diet choices with friends and family. They don’t understand and I feel some resentment if we go out to eat, etc. How do you get people to understand and accept your choice to be raw without making them feel bad about their choice to not be?
thanks so much
Hannah

Hi, what an awesome giveaway. It seems like the possibilities of creations you can make with a dehydrator are endless! I was wondering how long foods last after they are dehydrated and if it varies depending on what the food is?
