Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

What an awesome giveaway, thanks for holding this!

My question: How important is it to worry about truly-raw almonds? I’m a poor college student and those truly-raw ones are just toooo expensive on my budget right now, but I love almonds!

What is your best advice on staying raw through the cold months? I went raw last summer, then made it through fall, but just didn’t find it sustainable for the colder months. While I’m looking forward to SPRING and warmer weather (ie. veggies!), and I recognize that sometimes I’m just going to crave cooked foods when it is colder, I’d love to be more prepared this year to continue on what is, for me, the best lifestyle choice I’ve ever made!
    Thanks, love your site!

I’m a raw food noob so I was wondering what your take was on food combining?

    good morning,
i usually soak my almonds and cashews, but how long are they good soaked? is it necessary to dehydrate them, or can they be stored without dehydrating them? And, where is a good place to store them?

another question, i sprouted chickpeas over the weekend, how long are those good in their sprouted form and how would you recommend storing them?

    thanks SO much 🙂

I love raw foods made with nuts, but my husband has a hard time digesting them. Will soaking nuts before I use them make them any easier to digest?

This is an amazing website – really beautiful, informative, and the recipes are as delicious to eat as they are to look at.

    Thanks!

Oh my gosh. I would LOVE a dehydrator. I have my 15 yr old sister really moving from a diet rich in chips to grilled zucchini, for dipping, and her and I would absolutely ADORE this dehydrator so that we could make all sorts of rawmazing veggie chips– especially when she goes off to track and has nothing to snack on before. I wonder if I could get my mom liking them too? She is a regular chipaholic.

Why am I just finding your site now? I have my fingers crossed, but regardless, love this blog and I am adding you to my blog roll at http://www.diaryofanutritionist.com.

Question: When making veggie chips, what are your favorite ways to flavor them? Can you dehydrate sweet potatoes and beets? Vegetables that are denser and starchier?
    Ahhhh I am so excited!!!!!!

I am trying to incorporate more raw into my diet, but most of the intriguing recipes are high nut/fat content. If I were eating as well as I should, eating a majority veggie/fruit diet would more than compensate, but until I reach that point, do you have any suggestions or top three favorite transition recipes? Thanks.

Wow! This is an amazing giveaway! I have been dying for a dehydrator, but like many others…just have not found the extra cash to get one! On that note, is there any way to ever make raw breads, crackers etc. without a dehydrator? Can you use an oven? Or can you put things into a container in the sun maybe? There are so many recipes that I would love to try, just haven’t been able to without a dehydrator. Thank you so much!!
