Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

How much protein should a person eat each day depending on their weight? I don’t know if I am eating enough protein.

    Great giveaway!

I notice some raw recipes are very nut-heavy. After eating a lot of fruit and vegetable dishes over a few days, if I eat a nut-heavy meal, I feel really nauseous. Is this because I’m not soaking the nuts first? Do most raw people have problems with meals loaded with fat? Is it better to just avoid nut-rich meals?

Hi, my question is – juice or blender drinks?

Here’s my question: how do raw foodists get through the cold, dreary winters without something HOT? I’m not talking lukewarm soup from a Vitamix either (which I’m sure is still delicious, but doesn’t hit the spot). I’ve been looking into raw foods more and more lately and while it seems totally feasible during the summer my body craves dense, warm foods in the winter. Also, what an amazing giveaway! I’ve been wanting a dehydrator for forever.

I agree with Olga! I’m ready to make some *really* good kale chips.

My question is: What is a good raw solution to my pizza cravings?

    Hiya!

Oh man would I love this dehydrator!

I have so many questions I can’t think of just one, but I’ll try. I am brand new to all of this and would love to incorporate more raw foods into my diet and eventually go (mostly) raw, but the transition is difficult when almost every recipe deals with some aspect of raw “cooking” that I either don’t know how to do or don’t have the equipment for (enter this beautiful dehydrator!)… so how do you transition without much time or equipment? What was your first step… and second… and third… we’ll you get the point. Is there a way to do this without the many fits and starts of dedicating yourself to it, falling “off the wagon”, and repeating the cycle? Okay, there’s a few questions for ya! 😛

    Thanks! <3

Ack… I thought of a better question, and you can feel free to delete my previous post. (I’m not trying to cheat, I just really want to know this answer!) I seem to be sensitive to citrus in my diet, even just small amounts of lemon juice. Lemon juice seems very prevalent in most of the raw recipes I’ve seen. What would be a good substitute for that?

I’ve been wanting a food dehydrator for over a year now, especially because I’d love to make raw (gluten free) crackers! My question: What nutrients are the most difficult to get from a 100% raw food diet?

    My raw food question is:

Do you know of any raw food recipe books that do not use nuts? So many people I know cannot have nuts and I want to prepare raw foods that are yummy and creative for them.
