Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

Hi Susan!
What a great giveaway! And I love your website! It has been very inspiring, even though I am not eating raw at this present time. I find it challenging right now as I am living abroad in a 3rd world country, that does not make it easy to bring items in. So I have no food dehydrator, etc. My question to you is: What advice do you have for someone who has little access to the proper equipment and most ‘novelty’ foods to eat raw?
By the way, should I win the dehydrator, I would most definitely find a way to get it here!

I found your website as a result of a reference from another site I was perusing and I wanted to let you know I have learned so much about raw foods from setting up your kitchen to food preparation. Thank you so much for so freely sharing your wisdom, knowedge, and compassion to help others renew and gain control of their lives—these characteristics are evident in the meals you prepare and the manner in which you share them with your audience. I am grateful to have discovered your site. Keep up the “Excellent” work and may God Bless You!!
Oh, my question…
What role or how critical is it to add B-12 and Vitamin D supplements when implementing a raw lifestyle?
Finally, I am a newbie and a dehydrator is at the top of my “Wish List”. Thanks for the opportunity!

Question: When soaking and dehydrating an assortment of nuts…what containers do you recommend for storage and how long do they keep?
Thanks!

Hello.
I have been a vegetarian for 15 yrs and have slowly been changing to a raw food diet I am probably about 60 to 70% raw as I am still learning and it has been chalenging as most recipes require a dehydrator -crackers, burgers, ect.. My question is if you don’t have a dehydrator and don’t want to use the oven, as it is cost consuming having the door slightly opened and the dial on low would raise my electrical bill tremendously, have you ever tried outdoor sun drying, obviously when the sun is warm and the air is dry. If so, what has been your experience ?

i am 60 and my husband is 64. our daughter has introduced us to eating raw and we have transitioned to being vegan and are about 85% raw. i would love to know how to get enough protein if i want to limit the amount of nuts that we eat. i am currently using my oven to dehydrate and would love to have a “real dehydrator”. love your site and look forward to the answer to all of these questions.

I recently went vegan, and noticed on high raw days that my energy levels would soar vs. days where I ate more cooked foods. So, I’ve been looking into going more raw than not. I adore your site and the recipes (and photos) are fantastic & inspiring.
My question to you is: what would you recommend to someone looking to add more raw food into their diet (aside from the standard salads, etc.)?
p.s. don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my salad – I eat 2 big ones a day…but some days you just don’t “feel” like having one, ya know? 😉

I am interested in learning more about starting a raw food diet—and if people have been successful on it on a small budget! Our only deterrent is we feel it costs so much to start-up, that is if we’d like creative and varied meals…
Thank you for your website, it’s beautiful~!

do you have any ideas for a quick-ish raw breakfast, beyond the standby smoothie?
