Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

    Hi,
A dehydrator giveaway!! Wonderful!! I would love it!! I’m just starting to change my diet to raw and I think a dehydrator would really help me. I could make veggie chips and dried fruit. But the biggest thing for me would be to be able to make bread and crackers!! And of course cookies!! 🙂

Let’s see….one question: What would be your #1 tip to help a newbie get organized to go raw since there can be a lot of preparation time?

Thanks a lot and please please pick me! 🙂

I’m so excited about this! I almost didn’t even comment because there are so many entries, but I thought, what the heck, SOMEONE has to win, and you never know!

My question is this: I find that eating mostly raw costs much more because I have to EAT more, because fruits and vegetables have a lot less calories. I’m currently breastfeeding, and I’m just curious if you have any tips for eating raw while breastfeeding, all on a budget? Also, are there any tips that you would give specifically to a nursing mom?

    Thanks so much!

I have hashimoto’s disease – a thyroid disease similar to hypothroidism – and I don’t know if I should eat sea veggies or not. What about iodine in foods especially salts? Good or bad for someone like me?

Would love to find a pate recipe that doesn’t involve nuts or seeds. Any suggestions? Thanks! 🙂

Hi Susan! Thanks for the giveaway offer! I’ve spent hours looking at dehydrators online, waiting for the day I’ll be able to purchase one!

I’m a graduate student in whole foods nutrition and absolutely LOVE to “cook”! I spend all my free time in the kitchen…no joke! My question is this: After 13 years as a vegetarian and 1 as a vegan, I’m slowly transitioning to a high-raw diet. I’m finding the raw food lifestyle a bit financially overwhelming and am wondering if you can give advice on beginning a raw food lifestyle on a budget. So many appliances needed! :-/

    Thank you!

Is there a trick to sprouting? I frequently attempt to make them as fresh as I find them at my natural foods store but they never seem to take off and end up looking less than appealing after a few days–what am I missing?

I have been eating raw food solidly for the past 3 months or so.

I have scoured the internet for various raw cheese recipes. Do you have a recipe for “Blue Cheese”? I would like it to give the appearance of Blue cheese complete with the “blue” look…Do you think Spirulina would taint the flavor? And how can I make it smoother without a Vitamix Blender? Is that possible? I am working on a menu to cater a Vegan Raw Tapa’s Party for my sisters wedding and would like to have some Raw Nut cheese since she loves regular dairy cheese. Thanks! and Good Luck everyone on their entry for the Dehydrator! 🙂

Yay dehydrators! If I had a dehydrator I would make some mean eggplant bacon! My question is, do you have any tips for time management in raw food preparation and menu planning? Many of the recipes I’ve tried are pretty time consuming, and if you factor in soaking and sprouting times, I often get discouraged to try some of what I am sure are tasty and nutritious raw dishes! I have considered making a chart of what needs to be done in preparation for a raw dish, but it gets complicated when I try to work in multiple raw meals. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been flipping through a raw cookbook, trying to figure out what to uncook for dinner, see a delicious recipe I’d like to try, only to read “soak for 8 hours” or “sprouted for 3 days!”

I LOVE hummus, but I’m a little intimidated to try a raw version. Do you have one you like?
