Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator. I hope to fix that problem for one of you!

The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!

Here are the rules:

Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.

Only one entry allowed per person.

Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.

Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.

I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

Is Sprouted Wheat bread technically raw?

Is dehydrated food still raw? I always thought that the main benefits of raw foods were the enzymes. Without water, can the enzymes still have the same benefits to digestion?

I am in college and have been reading a lot of raw food recipes, as well as trying some out myself (well, what i can without a dehydrator)… I’m wondering, does following a raw diet mean that there are no, for example, cooked vegetables? one of my favorite foods is roasted brussel sprouts, for example, but i have no idea how i would eat these raw?

Oh my goodness, this is the best giveaway ever! I have been waiting until I am no longer a poor grad student to buy a dehydrator but now maybe just maybe I won’t have to wait!

My question is about ingredients. I understand eating raw fruits and veggies but how important is it that everything be raw. For example a raw cocoa powder is much more expensive than regular as is unpasteurized soy sauce or truly raw nuts. These things can be tough on a budget. So I guess how important is it for all foods beyond the fruit and veggies that make the bulk of the diet be raw?

I have just begun to incorporate raw meals into my life more intentionally. I am looking for a go-to “cookbook” to help get me started with some simple, appealing, and delicious recipes. What staple book would you recommend I keep handy in my kitchen?

    Hi Susan!

I have just recently started a raw lifestyle and I have yet to encounter social situations involving food. Can you give some tips and advice about eating raw in a country focused on the Standard American Diet?

    Thanks!

Okay, so i just turned 18 and I’ve been passionately obsessed with raw food for the past two years. It’s been a ferocious struggle attempting to create raw “baked” foods with my parents scolding me for leaving the oven on/open for ridiculous hours. My parents think a dehydrator is impractical. sigh. How often do you use your dehydrator?

Any info on food combining. I’m getting confused on what goes with what. Thanks for the great giveaway!
