Dehydrator Giveaway!

The time has come to do our first giveaway and is it ever a good one! Many raw food recipes require a dehydrator and if you don’t have one, it can be challenging. One of the most common questions I get is how to prepare the raw food recipes without a dehydrator.
I hope to fix that problem for one of you!
The great folks over at TSM Dehydrators have donated a 300.00, 5 shelf, stainless Dehydrator, the D5! I couldn’t be happier to be able to offer this! I have one of these dehydrators. It is my favorite. It is quiet, sturdy, very easy to pull apart and clean and does a great job at temperature control. I have checked. Continue for the rules!
Here are the rules:
Enter by simply asking a question you have about raw food in the comment area.
Only one entry allowed per person.
Entries will close at 6pm on Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Winner will be randomly selected and announced following the contest.
I will be answering your questions in upcoming blog posts!

The deficiency brought up most in the raw food world is for B-12. What are the early symptoms for B-12 deficiency?

Well, since this would be the next step up for me (dehydrator-wise) I am thrilled to enter this giveaway!!
Raw Food Question – Where do you stand on the whole young thai coconut issue? My little girls love the fresh coconut meat and the water, but I’ve stopped using them because of the chemical reports, but then they are said to be wrong….ahhh!

Would I have to give up my beloved chocolate if I go “raw”?

What kind of surfaces can dehydrators be safely used on…and how much space needs to be free above and to the sides of them?

I’m new at this and I am so excited about eating raw and possibly winning a great Dehydrator!
My question is, what is the best container to use in storing my dehydrated foods can I use plastic baggies or would glass jars be better?

I’m very interested in raw nutrition and I’m excited every time you post a new recipe… (they always look so appetizing that it makes eating raw look very pleasurable, not a rigid and sad diet) So I’m excited about the recipe… until I realize that for that one again I would need a dehydrator… which I don’t have.
One question then (for if I don’t win… or for all the rest of us who don’t own one either !) : Is there another way to dehydrate (like just leaving the preparation just dry naturally in a windy place or something…) ?
One more question : is tea raw ?
Thank you for the great informations already !

I’m wondering if there are any foods that do not work well with the dehydrator.

Lovely site as always Susan. Maybe this dehydrator can help in my hopes for delicious camping food as well as a healthier diet 😉
Have you ever wrote up or made a chart on how long different raw recipes will keep with and without refrigeration? I imagine dehydrated breads with a low moisture content would stand up the best and obviously things like your most recent tart should remain refrigerated?
Thanks so much for all the tasty possibilities!

I am new to raw food and would like to enter the drawing. What does the process of dehydrating do to the enzymes?
