How Not to Die – GIVEAWAY!

Enter to win “How Not to Die” by Michael Greger, MD. The best resource on how to use a plant based diet to fight the top 15 life-shortening killers. THE RULES TO ENTER ARE AT THE END OF THE POST.

I have been a fan of Dr. Michael Greger for years. His site, NutritionFacts.Org is my top “go to” for information on nutrition and health. To date, there are 1,965 articles and videos covering every health topic you can imagine. He is always on top of the latest, scientifically verified, groundbreaking science relating to plant based diet choices and how they positively affect our health.

How Not to Die by Michael Greger, MD

You can find the” latest information” many places but no one does the research like Dr. Greger does. He cites study after study, debunking some information and strongly, scientifically supporting other information. It is the one place that I truly trust for the latest information on nutrition.

Dr Greger is a huge proponent of a plant-based diet. And through his research, he has identified the foods that have been “scientifically proven to prevent and reverse disease”. His much anticipated book, “How Not to Die” covers the 15 leading causes of premature death, such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer and how to combat and possibly reverse these diseases with diet and lifestyle changes. It is mind-blowing. Did you know that drinking hibiscus tea can work better that the leading drug treatment?

His new book also covers the foods and activities that we should include in our daily routines. He even has a check-list that you can use for your daily healthy eating and life-style.

We are buying this book for many of our friends for Christmas and I wanted to make sure that one of you received one too! This is NOT a sponsored post, nor did I receive a book to give away. I believe so strongly in his work that I bought a copy and am giving it as a gift to one of you. All profits from his book go to charity. Pretty cool, huh?

Lots of salads, berries, legumes, and seeds, and a large variety of other plant-based foods.

I have a fabulous garden. I usually curse in during August when it is so hot to pick, but I know it is a blessing.

I predominately eat the rainbow in the form of whole, close to the earth foods. And, I chew, chew, chew them (if the Vitamix hasn’t done the chewing for me!) in a relaxed, joyful setting.

Our family makes sure to stay away from processed foods and always as often as possible only use organic foods and buy locally to help our farmers and food providers. We educate people on their food sources and let others know about ‘food being our medicine and medicine being our food.’

I study Greger, GNull, you, & others. I was raw vegan for 10+ years but due to oxalate sensitivity I now eat veg but added raw organic nontorture-derived yogurt/cheese sometimes (so sorry, I didn’t want to but it alleviates pain I get from oxalates). I follow low ox diet heavy on veggies esp squashes but many others also, some fruits, romaine n arugula, occasional black eyed peas or lentils or peas, n bits of dairy occasionally. I can eat 3 nuts per day, and a little handful of sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. I switch out the nuts n soak them. Nutrition is always a learning curve. I love your site! Thanks so much! Aloha!

The most helpful thing I’ve ever implemented to stay healthy is to make a deal with myself: If I want a big, greasy breakfast, I can have it, but not before I first have a full-sized smoothie loaded with nutrient rich foods. The rule also applies for lunch.

This works really well for me, because I often crave bad food when I’m very hungry or very tired, stressed, or emotional. Once I have my smoothie, I feel much better and often don’t care to have the meal I was previously craving (and I’m often too full for it).

I don’t have a lot of discipline to just say no to a bad food, but if I tell myself I ‘can have it right after this big, green smoothie,’ I do really well to avoid daily diet mistakes without feeling deprived.

    🙂
