Monday Give Away: UrthBag!
Monica Ralli, founder of UrthBags, has sent us this beautiful “Angelina” recycled magazine handbag for our Monday give away! UrthBags are the Eco-Chic handbags made with the health of the planet in mind. I have one of these little beauties sitting on the kitchen table, and believe me, it is fantastic.
Monica has always tried to live a sustainable life by recycling everything possible, shopping locally at farmers markets, avoiding toxic chemicals by choosing organic, etc. Looking in her closet one evening filled with handbags, purses, totes, gym bags, etc., She thought to herself, why couldn’t these same, stylish designs be made from salvaged, recycled & discarded materials? After much researching, sourcing materials, locating and organizing women’s groups, she created UrthBags Eco-Chic Handbags.
Monica also follows a predominantly raw diet and has for over 20 years. She strongly advocate consuming sustainable, fresh food diet that is as close to its natural state as possible. Sisterhood!
This beautiful bag’s retail value is 72.00. Thank you Monica!

UrthBags are Eco Chic
I’d love to win one this week
I save electricity by the hour
Since I installed Solar Power
And the environment will thank
Me for my water tank …

I try to upcycle when crafting. Instead of purchasing new fabric I head to the thrift store to find what I need.

My husband and I are really good at dumpster diving. My dining room table and chairs were rescued and with a little creativity we made them beautiful and have had many dinners for 8 with friends and relatives. Each pair of chairs was covered with a different colored velvet from my stash (using what you already have). I am working on a quilt using parts of my husbands old jeans to honor all of the work he has done to provide for us over the years. Our house is filled with plants that help purify the air. We grow sprouts and greens indoors. We grow a year round garden using row covers in the winter and collect leaves from other people to use as compost and mulch.

I am currently attending a Wellness College and we are hosting a Wellness Fare in two weeks. I am promoting community composting and recycling on all levels at my booth. When I left the country and moved to the big city to attend College, I soon realized there were so many uninformed people out there who still have no idea about anything environmentally friendly. So many people yet have no idea on how to help protect our Mother Earth with just doing simple everyday stuff. I still have so much to learn myself and yet I see just how far I already am in comparison to those so uneducated towards the simple things in life like caring for ourselves with how we feed our bodies. For every person I talk to about composting and recycling so far, that has listened to what I have to say and I see them taking it in and making some changes, I am so grateful. I feel so happy when they start caring about their bodies and the Earth we live in. Thanks to all those people, you make my day!

I’ve been on a green streak lately, I have been cleaning up the roadsides once a month and at the park. I have been also making pillows and stuffing them with old clothes, stuffed animal stuffing and newspaper so i don’t have to buy new chemicalated pillow stuffing and it helps clean my room and get rid of junk.
