Raw Halvah

My dear friend, Amy Oscar, who by the way is editing the Rawmazing Dessert Cookbook, sent me a raw food recipe for raw Halvah that she created. I was thrilled with the idea as sesame seeds, the main ingredient are extremely loaded with nutrients. I put a little Rawmazing twist on the recipe, including a chocolate ganache topping.

Sesame seeds are loaded with calcium. One quarter cup provides over 1/3 of the RDA for calcium. They are also rich in magnesium and copper. The oil in sesame seeds is resistant to rancidity. They are also high in fiber, and contain lingans, which are fibers that are thought to lower cholesterol.

Amy also has a wonderful website, AmyOscar.com. She writes amazing uplifting stories and has a deep and beautiful insight into life.

This looks amazing. But I will have to try and make it w/ raw carob, I don’t eat raw cacoa or cocoa. I quit consuming caffeine when I began the raw living foods lifestyle and I am afraid to try any foods that have natural stimulants in them. It was a really BIG deal for me to stop drinking coffee so I can’t risk messing it up. I hope the raw carob will work!! Thanks so much for this beautiful dessert.
    Peace,
    Elizabeth

That looks delicious! Do you mix the ingredients by hand or process them? Thanks

I did this by hand. But either could work. If I use the food processor, I will notate that in the instructions. 🙂

YUM. Do you think this would work using coconut oil too? I know the oil will harden if it’s kept at a colder temperature so it would be the same consistency as the coconut butter right?

Andrea: I am sure it would work just fine. I like the coconut butter because of the richness and texture it provides.
