KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender Give Away!

This contest has ended.

I couldn’t help myself. I saw a video on how the KitchenAid blender beat both the Vitamix and the Blendtec blenders in a test. Considering it is about 1/4 to 1/3rd the price, I just had to get one and put it through it’s paces. So for the next few days, I will be blending and reporting. And on Friday…because I want you all to know how much I appreciate you, I will be giving it away! (Make sure you read the rules below or your entry won’t count.)

To enter, simply leave a comment in the comment section telling me why you are interested in raw food. It can be as simple as one word, or as long as you like. I will pick a winner on Friday with a random number generator and announce who won on Friday. Entries will close at noon on Friday.

So far, I am pretty darn impressed. This is what I am eating for lunch. Right this minute. Slurp!

Having the opportunity to work in a raw food kitchen one day per week inspires me to keep the drive to find my health, and recreate the mood at home.

I come from a long list of hereditary cancers that have been running rampant in my family for generations. My grandmother died from this horrible disease last November, and an uncle of mine was just recently diagnosed. I noticed the way my family eats, I have been very put off by their habits since I was young (DELICIOUS food -by “cooked” standards – but so high in fat, preservatives, cholesterol and processed foods. VERY Paula Dean style “comfort food” cooking with at least 2 sticks of butter used in every meal).. I wanted to change this as not only was cancer prevalent in my family, but also being over weight and lacking in energy.

I met an amazing woman who hosted Raw Food classes and seminars for free once a month in her amazing home. This changed my life. I soon discovered why fate had brought us together; she had been diagnosed with cancer a few years prior to us meeting and yet seemed like the HEALTHIEST, glowing person from the inside out. Her energy captivated me and I wondered how she was living the way she was with this diagnosis. She told me when she was diagnosed the doctors prescribed the usual, VERY expensive medications and treatments they usually do, but she walked away. She was determined to beat this disease naturally and organically; she starting eating raw. 6 months later the cancer was in remission and has never returned since.

It is now my mission to convert as many family members, friends and peers as I can into the raw food movement. This is no easy task to say the least, but they can see the results from my example and are slowly converting.

I recently moved to NYC to pursue my career in interior design and sustainable green living. Unable to take any of my “raw food” tools with me, ie. blenders, juicers, dehydrators etc. it has been hard to keep on my diet I was so involved with a couple of months ago; especially living in the city where food vendor carts are a dozen on every corner and living expenses more than doubled. This blender would be an AMAZING start to get back on track with the way I believe we should ALL be eating and setting an example with as all us raw foodies know how pricey yet NECESSARY a good blender is in this diet!

Cooking will deplete nutrients. Throwing a bunch of raw foods is so natural.

Raw food has changed my life. It has been so important on my healing journey, and now I aim to spread the information on the power of nutrition and the importance of eating organic raw food while living in a toxic world : )
